The Madison premiere of Lavinia
a new play by Betty Diamond
On the Evjue Stage
In an infamous decision written by Chief Justice Edward G. Ryan, Lavinia Goodell was denied admission to the bar of the Wisconsin Supreme Court in 1876 because she was a woman.
Originally commissioned by the Director of State Courts Office of the State of Wisconsin, and the Office of the Chief Justice of the State of Wisconsin, Lavinia follows Lavinia Goodellʼs feisty entry into what was then a manʼs world.
